12 weeks post op

Postby GRITS » Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:13 am

I just wanted to tell everyone my story. I was diagnosed with SM in March 2008. For the first year, I only had symptoms
on my left side. My left arm burned constantly, but my left hand was freezing.
About April of this year, my I began to lose control of my left leg. By May, I was dragging my leg/foot and was walking
with a cane.

On May 19, 2009 I had T12-L1 Laminectomy with Intradural Syringopleural Shunt. (I don't know the abbreviation for this surgery). The following day I was up and walking down the hall to the hospital's Snack Bar!!.

I have started back to the gym, walking the treadmill and hope to progress to the elliptical machine.

I still have the same problems in my left arm and hands, am trying out different meds for this.

I still wake up smiling and thank the Lord everyday for my good fortune.

Thanks for letting me share this with you.
