Removal of C1

Postby nature » Fri Mar 05, 2010 2:03 pm

Just wondering if anyone who has had a decompression with C1 removal, had any range of motion issues with their neck after surgery. Tara is only a little over two weeks post op but she is not moving her neck normally, like she did before surgery. She seems very stiff and turns her whole upper body when trying to look at something. Do decompression pts usually have any kind of PT outside of the hospital?

2 weeks is pretty early-- there is still a lot of pain from surgery, muscle spasms/etc. My duaghter had pt only because of a fusion-- I wouldn't be too concerned yet--give it a while there's a lot of healing to do! Good Luck!!

I agree that 2 weeks is pretty early. My kids do have a little residual loss of range of motion in their necks, and both have muscle spasms still, one is on muscle relaxers for them and one is doing pt.
