long time no see at Dr. office

Hi. I have been diagnosed with chiari for about 10 yrs. I have had 2 chiari surgeries and tethered cord surgery. The last time I saw my doctor (chiari institute in NY), they said there was nothing more they could do for me. That was 5-7 yrs ago and I am still having a lot of pain. I live in NC so it's hard to get to NY. Do you guys think that there might be something new that can be done for me? I just don't know if it's worth it to go back.....money, time and not to mention I'm very sick.

have you seen Dr. Rosner in NC ? I would try that first .. welcome Roz

I have often heard that surgery might not help with the pain. In fact sometimes it adds new or more pain issues. Have you tried to find a pain specialist who deals with spinal cord injury? I now most people do not want to take narcotics or other medications long term. Pain clinics will also teach you additional ways of coping with pain. biofeedback, exercise, alternative therapies are some other means of helping to manage pain. wishing you find answers.

Thanks for the replies. My first chiari surgery was done in Greensboro and was botched. Since then, I have been afraid of anyone execpt the Chiari institute. I may be more willing to try someone closer now though. Where is Dr. Rosner? What do you know about him? Thanks!
