itching???

Postby mom2sonja&max » Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:21 am

Hey guys/gals,

I've have this itching thing with my hands and feet. It is so bad at times it drives me crazy!!!!

I thought it was from using the soap I had but I changed soaps over and over and it's not the soap.

I also saw a post from Janice where she mentioned she had it. That's when I posted her and she thought it would be an interesting poll, and so do I.

So.... who of you have had itching hands and feet (or other body parts for that matter) with no explaination? SM/ CM related?

Hope you all have a comfortable day!!!

Take care,
Tina

Hi Tina,

I picked hands and feet because they are the most troublesome areas. However, there have been times when the itching goes all over and it's bugs the he$$ out of me.

Take care, great topic!!

I use to get extreme itching of my hands and feet.
This happened on and off for about 8 years.
It was so bad that I would scratch till I would bleed.
I finally figured out that I have built up an allergy to perfume.

I no longer use colognes/perfumes, powders, lotions, soaps with scents.
I don't very often get the problem anymore. lol

I have all kinds of allergies to different soaps etc....
So I use only certain types of soaps, detergents, and all.
Despite this - i still have at times insane itching
I think mine has to do with ACM and nerve problems from it.

My feet seem to be abnormally itchy, such that I will often have to slip off a shoe, even at work to scratch one. But, although it hasn't happened for a while, the weirder thing is with my hands. They will sometimes itch, but it feels kind of like it's under the skin, and nothing I do helps. Seems to happen the most when I fly, though definitely has happened other times.

For several years I have had very bothersome itching across my back between the shoulder blades--very hard to reach. Wall corners and door jambs were favorite places if there was no one around to help. My daughter gave me a back-scratcher for Christmas one year, which I keep handy.

Then, 2 1/2 years ago, I got the SM diagnosis: syrinx at t6-t8/9. Right between the shoulder blades. Coincidence? I don't know. But I'm tempted to think there is a connection.

Recently, I have developed an itch on the right side of my right hand, which comes and goes. Same for my feet. Not big problems.

And as I sit here writing about itching, I'm beginning to itch all over.....

I laughed when I saw this poll. Funny, I just told my husband last night that I had been itching lately at different places but I feel like I am scratching something on my body all the time....what is up with that?

All my doctor said is that it's nerve related and to take Benedryl. Two of the docs said Benedryl is one of those meds you can take w/any other medications you might be taking. I started at 25mg's but now I'm up to 100mg's. It slowly looses it's effect then I have to increase the dose, always by 25mg's.

Take care,
GOD Bless!

I seem to get bad itching on my shins, to the point I start bleeding. Then I do notice it on my hands and feet sometimes.

Hi All,

Is itching a part of SM? I am newly diagnosed and have recently been itching a lot! Mainly my arms, behind one ear, and my neck. I would've never thought this would be something related to my SM.

I itch all over and get welts whenever something slightly touches me or when I scratch. I have too much histamine.
