Hello my name is shawn and i have had the arnold chiairi malformation sugry ,i had mine when i was 40 yrs old and i have been doing real well up till the last few moths ,well i am 45 now and i need to ask some one else that may have had it do they know if it can come back after sugry ,,only for the fact that i have been haveing real bad headacks and a lot of neck pain ,just like befor the sugry so if anyone knows well you please let me know you can email me at shwnfender@yahoo.com and ty very much ..

Hello shawn. Yes, it is my understanding that you may need to be decompressed more than once. I would go to ns, or neurologist for another mri to check on the csf (flow study). this would indicate whether you need another surgery.

Great question, in my research and through getting to know other ASAP members, decompression surgery is only to slow the progression of this condition and you could get the same symptoms again (as you seem to now have).

I don't know much about whether it can come back or not. My main input is that you should see a neuro surgeon since neurologists do not seem to be nearly as knowledgeable on the subject.

Make an appt with a NS, I'm sure s/he would order an MRI/CINE MRI to have a look at what's going on and make sure you have good flow, etc.
