size of syrinx not changing but pain increasing

Postby shayna52 » Wed Sep 07, 2016 10:45 am

I have had syringomyelia for 25 years. In the last 15 years my MRI's show that the size of my syrinxes have remained the
same but my pain has increased. My pain management doctor says that I should not have increased pain due to the fact that
the syriinxes have not changed. Is it possible for symptoms to get worse even with no progression of size

Even though you have a syrinx it may not be directly responsible for your symptoms. Something most likely caused the syrinx and that could be responsible for your symptoms. The fact your syrinx has not gotten larger is a good thing but the doctors need to keep looking for what caused that syrinx in the first place.
