Golf Tournament Provides Funding for ASAP Research

Ms. Texas Rodeo and Kaya What do you do when your two-year-old granddaughter is diagnosed with a serious progressive disorder? Well, if you are Bruce and Debbie Culver, you get right down to business: research business, that is! After learning their granddaughter was affected by Chiari and syringomyelia, the Culvers formed a nonprofit organization called Conquer for Kaya. Their goal is to raise funds and awareness for Chiari and syringomyelia. The nonprofit holds fundraisers throughout the year and donates the proceeds to research-sponsoring organizations. This year, ASAP has been chosen to receive a total of $35,400 to continue funding our ground-breaking, prestigious research program.

The Culvers held the tournament on August 27th at the Sonterra Golf Club. About 100 people joined in for dinner and a silent and live auction, while 59 people tried their luck on the golf course. San Antonio Jewelers donated a lovely Movado Ladies Watch for the raffle, valued at $1,195.

Special guests included Kaya herself, Kinya and Eileen from Great Day S., and Miss Rodeo Texas 2007: Alyssa Plackemeier. The youngest golfer to complete all 18 holes was three-year-old Aidan, the Culver's grandson. The Culvers would like to thank their daughter, Angela, and very dear friends, Doris, Donna, Lana, Dana, Joan, Brenda and Judy.
